How to Be More Loving and Compassionate
Переглядів 1,2 тис.11 місяців тому
In each human being, every noble spiritual value revolves around one all-important central virtue: love. Without it, we suffer tremendously - and with it, we flourish. In a speech he gave in Maine in 1912, Abdu’l-Baha said it this way: “When we observe the phenomena of the universe, we realize that the axis around which life revolves is love …” While many different virtues enable us to be happy...
How to Be a More Tolerant and Flexible Person
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
Do you think of yourself as a flexible, tolerant person? We’d all probably like to claim these fine virtues as our own, but lately our societies - and many people in them - seem to lack those attributes. Unfortunately, the concepts of flexibility and tolerance have become distorted over time by the impersonal demands made by the markets, economic forces, and political platforms - so let’s defin...
How to Develop Courage
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
Despite what the movies teach us, courage doesn’t just mean bravery - it also means facing our fears, overcoming life’s difficulties, and doing the right thing regardless of what others might think of us. The Baha'i teachings ask all human beings to actively work to develop the attribute of courage. Abdu’l-Baha, in a talk he gave in Paris early in the 20th century, asked everyone in that gather...
How to Be Faithful
Переглядів 1,9 тис.Рік тому
Consider your closest friends - the people in your life who you really love and trust - and think, for a moment, about the level of faithfulness any close relationship requires. When you’re faithful - when you remain true to your promises, beliefs, and moral convictions - you build trust, loyalty, and a happy life. Faithfulness means being loyal to someone or something. When we’re faithful, we ...

The Baha'i teachings say that every human being is unique like all gems are unique - that the Creator has conferred a special individual nature on each one of us. Baha’u’llah wrote: "The Purpose of the one true God, exalted be His glory, in revealing Himself unto men is to lay bare those gems that lie hidden within the mine of their true and inmost selves." Because we’re “gems of inestimable va...
How to Be More Patient
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
No one goes through life without difficulties, tests, and trials - we all have our share of troubles. The best way to emotionally respond to those troubles, the Baha'i teachings say, is with patience: "Know ye that trials and tribulations have, from time immemorial, been the lot of the chosen Ones of God and His beloved … Such is God's method carried into effect of old, and such will it remain ...
How to Become a Truly Helpful Human Being
Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 роки тому
Just for a moment, remember the last time you selflessly helped someone else, and reflect back on how it made you feel afterwards. Isn’t it a wonderful feeling? Wouldn’t you like to feel that way more often? A simple act of helpfulness - being of service to others - can be a highly rewarding one, and can even lead over time to the habit of becoming a consistently helpful person, one who always ...
How to Create Clean Habits
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 роки тому
Normally we think of cleanliness as keeping our body and physical surroundings clean - but it’s also about developing a pure heart and helping our soul stay unstained. We all feel better after a shower or a bath - it not only refreshes our bodies, but our minds and spirits too. Cleanliness of thought and purity of heart can help us feel peaceful, happy, and healthy. The Baha'i teachings place a...
How to Become a Reliable Human
Переглядів 2,8 тис.2 роки тому
Among all the people you know, which one of them can you truly depend on? When you think about that person, what spiritual quality comes to mind? Chances are it is reliability. Reliability means being trustworthy and dependable. When we are reliable, we follow through with tasks we agreed to do without forgetting or having to be reminded. When we’re reliable, others can count on us. We do what ...
The Meaning of Purposefulness
Переглядів 1,7 тис.2 роки тому
Purposefulness means setting goals and having the determination to achieve them. Purposeful people plan their lives to make things happen rather than letting things happen on their own. But beyond earthly goals, the Baha'i teachings say that God has created us as special individuals and has endowed us all with a great purpose. The purpose of life is twofold: One is the spiritual aspect of life ...

How to Be More Assertive
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
The Baha'i teachings praise human nobility, as in this quotation from Baha’u’llah: “O Son of Spirit! Noble have I created thee, yet thou hast abased thyself. Rise then unto that for which thou wast created.” That assurance applies to every human being, without exception, regardless of their class, creed, color, or condition. In his writings and teachings, Baha’u’llah confirmed, over and over, t...

Actually, he's on the right track. Death and birth are two sides of one coin. Death is best understood by reflecting on one's own life. There are many endings in a person's lifetime, and every ending always leads to the beginning of something else. The physical death is no different. We pass from the reality of this material world into the world of spirit. Look how easy our physical birth was. We had no idea, but we all made it just fine. I have a sense that death is like birth. Everything falls in place as it should, and effortlessly we will find ourselves in a new reality. So whenever your life comes to an ending, and there will be many of them, look at it as your spiritual practice for the day your physical form comes to its own ending. As I have shown you here, your daily existence can give you great insight into the realm of the unknown.

So what the numbers show is that we actually have an underincarceration problem. To alleviate any racial disparity re: drug dealing, we would have to imprison more white people. Not sure what the numbers show about Asian-American drug dealing rates, but perhaps start imprisoning more of them too. Or maybe Asian-Americans don’t deal drugs as much as whites and blacks, and that would be worthy of intense study. We already see this issue as described in the video being addressed by certain DAs in certain areas with the solution of releasing more people without charges. As one would reasonably expect, the crime rates go up in these areas and we see repeat offenders. Criminals know they’ll get away with it, and unsurprisingly the crime gets worse. This is an injustice to good law-abiding people in these communities. Baha’u’llah speaks of Justice as twin pillars of reward and punishment. Abdul Baha speaks of the need to imprison criminals not as revenge but to protect society, and to leave punishment to God. Because our society is so broken, we have a lot of serious crime. We have a lot more people who should be in prison, many of them probably for life. That would be true Justice for the innocent prior, especially children who, growing up in crime-ridden areas, are less likely to get a good education and succeed in life.

So what are your solutions? This is a nice pep talk, but it didn't pose any solutions to our problems. I figure solutions ought to include 200 years of BIWOC (Biracials, indigenous, and women of color) leadership, lower regulations & more incentives for BIPOC business, create a Department of Reparations & Unification with a $100 billion to $200 billion annual spending plan made with the help of experts who can determine where it's best to place that money each year, tax the rich more, tax folks based on intersectionality, incentivize miscegination, create national holidays based upon human solidarity over race and class, abolish the prison & police system, and so much more. I'm not any kind of professional advocate. I'm simply listing solutions to this country's problem of racial injustice. It's going to take well over a hundred major changes to solve this problem.

Brother. You cannot pour from an empty cup. View your body as a machine or a car. It needs to be up to date to function. Mentally - Read books, meditate Physical - exercise and eat healthy And lastly your relationship with your close ones. View them as people that also need your help. Give the best of what you have not what's left of you. So as to be able to continue helping others long term. Take care brother. May Christ be with you.
